Well, maybe it was the weather on Saturday, it was a little damp with an even wetter forecast, but
nobody
showed at the meet up location. Anne Colgate, who lives in Nelson
County, was planning on meeting "the group" at the trail head. I called
Anne an we agreed to meet at Rock Fish Gap and
review
our plan after a weather check. The sky looked questionable so we
decided to hike from Beagle Gap up to the shelter on Calf Mountain. We
saw quite a few very wet thru-hikers drying their
gear and preparing for continuing their treks north toward Maine. We left the shelter, went over to
Jarman Gap and back. The rain held off but we hiked in a lot of mud and wet foliage, but did enjoy
the day. Total distance 6 miles with about 1500 of elevation gain.
