Blackrock and Furnace Mountain Summit 2-20-2022

Nine cheerful and hearty hikers, including Rosemary Eyre-Brook, Michael Seth, Bill Weech, Heather Denny, Larry Cutler, Mari Kelly, Karen Wilson, Marie Moss and Anne Colgate joined hike leader Barbara Martin in a brisk and beautiful hike in Shenandoah National Park. 

 

The weather started out brisk at 20 degrees, but we were blessed with very little wind and a clear blue sky. 

After walking through the fascinating Blackrocks with beautiful views we wound our way to Furnace Mountain and had lunch there, complete with dark chocolate heartsmeant for the original date of the hike last week, one day before Valentine's Day.  They tasted just as good a week after Valentine's Day!

On the way back the three men asserted themselves by marching uphill ahead of the rest of us.  We all met at the trail intersection of Black Rock Spur Trail and returned to the parking lot via Blackrocks.
